Years ago, Guittard, specializing in couverture for the professional trade, launched an internal-line of finer eating chocolate honoring its founder -- E. Guittard.
Sweden's confectionary giant -- Malmö Chokladfabrik -- takes that model as well as a page out of Casa Luker's 1906 by branding its internal-line 1888 to commemorate the year of its founding.
Other than Jack the Ripper across the North Sea in England or a typewriting contest in the USA, not much happened in 1888. Same with this chocolate bar: tedious as the longest date in Roman numerals (VIII-XXVIII-MDCCCLXXXVIII).
