If this were an NFL squad, it'd be named the Chocolate Browns. Brute brownie in a bar just tackles the senses.
Appearance   4.9 / 5
Color: ebony alert (watch for roast)
Surface: runway model w/ a lone airhole (the equivalent of Naomi Campbell's beauty mole - if she had one)
Temper: sebaceous (oily)
Snap: shrill & brittle (more trouble ahead? see Texture below)
Aroma   7.2 / 10
lumberjack Paul Bunyon fights the VOG (Vanilla-Oak Giant) over a cup of coffee w/ choc shavings in it -> flailing raspberry in there somewhere like a frog in a pot of boiling watermelon; sweaty ginch on the rubdown
Mouthfeel   14.2 / 15
Texture: as pre-figured in the snap, fractured start... nicely cures itself however w/ great body & weight
Melt: loiters viscous thick & slow
Flavor   41.7 / 50
swings a chocolate ax right off the bat -> soft peanut (Arriba calling) -> tolerable bitter wood plank deepening the depth -> eucalyptus wonder (tremendous moment) -> coconut palm frond -> huge chocolate barrage (a little wooden & splintered but very acceptable) -> mainlines down to dense bitter brownie w/ green walnut -> fruit evasion similar to aromatic -> washes out heavy coffee roast
Quality   16.8 / 20
Inconsistency the bogey man now plaguing Slitti. After striking out on its Big 3 for '08 (Tropicale, Amazzonia, & 100%), this bar delivers for a seasonal reason: last year's model still making the rounds. None of the newer crops' defects. Instead, good bean selection, & far better control even as Slitti reaches over from the coffee side of his business for a deep roast that's all over it like brown on chocolate - almost rivaling Coppeneur & Pralus. While the aspect & component ratios are solid (RE: the CBS/vanilla), the actual flavors - especially the essential chocolate one - remain a bit occluded (touch too much bitter interference), lacking sharp contrast & clarity.
