Hawaii Six-0 - at 60%, plus the fact this bar represents a composite of beans grown by several pioneering farmers in the brave new world of ‘origin cacáo’ on the Big Island, then developed in lab by OHCF for a muddled, hazy image... becomes more McCloud than McGarrett. Cuffed & stuffed... Book ‘em, Danno.
Appearance   3.9 / 5
Color: vermillion; so much red, it almost colors over brown; to be fair - rosewood
Surface: good if smudged
Temper: good but uneven
Snap: more flaccid than limp milk choc; sandy edge
Aroma   7.1 / 10
big pot of Kona coffee & burning log woods just smoke out thin air layer of jellied fruit (apricot marmalade)
Mouthfeel   10.6 / 15
Texture: powdery (at 40% sugar + vanilla powder)
Melt: forgiving
Flavor   35.8 / 50
basic chocolate for the most part: open move loud & proud on sandalwood spiced-chocolate -> sweetens roundly to honeyed cocoa -> faint black fruit (plum - prune) -> coffee tone but chocolate prevails -> gentle treacle & black mission fig... derails on light plywood -> chalk & chert (nothing too unwelcome) -> rides off muddled chocolate molasses -> cookie crumble the aftermath
Quality   13.4 / 20
Sugar & vanilla the make-up covering over a diverse batch of beans in order to achieve a blend squarely designed for LCD. Some good moments but generally needs better selection & refinement techniques.
