It might be tougher in Alaska (as Geo Beach on the History Channel attests) but probably rougher in Ecuador (at least measured by this bar - a stark bottom feeder).

| Color: | darkest of the quartet (100 – 90 – 75 – 65) w/ red tints + more traditional Ecuadorian purple rays |
| Surface: | theater curtains |
| Temper: | ranges unevenly from its truer flat to intermittant polished sheen (molecular transfer from wrapper) |
| Snap: | another incredible earsplitter from Plantations; good cleave |
Aroma   5.2 / 10

mostly flat in keeping w/ Temper & deep roast signaled by Color; the anticipated high fruits & flowers of this varietal found in the 100 & to a much lesser extent the 90... GONE, replaced by a dark pocket of grains (yucca, rice) & coconut; overall grainy/waxy to the touch as rubdown reveals cacáo verde (green cocoa); aerates to the ever-more-common in Ecuador cinnamon
			Mouthfeel   11.3 / 15
			| Texture: | dry powder to match flavor |
| Melt: | swollen despite no added butter (this along w/ Snap point to overly emulsified) |
Flavor   33.1 / 50

dried cocoa-cinnamon -> underlying green machinery runs the entire length (tobacco leaf, banana peel, palm frond) -> then the odd couple of chocolate: black olive + black mission fig dominate the day at mid-palate -> bitter coffee grounds -> rare appearance of balsa & eucalyptus together w/ mint overhang -> tails away small alcohol -> brazil & walnuts -> hits pay dirt & lands in loam w/ numbing astringency
			Quality   12.7 / 20

Some good & rare finds along the spectrum (probably achieved thru underfermented polyphenols & employing raw cane sugar instead of the hyper-refined type creates much of that ‘green’ bias) but coarsely harmonized (heavy roast / light grind), in keeping with Plantations’ M.O. of living on / off the land... organic farming, building Rainforest Alliances, & generalized rough 'n rugged approach... Or, as outback survivalists caution, adventure is just another word for poor planning.
