Pajarito

Amazon-type introduced into Colombia around 1890 by a Señor Patin, probably sourced from a Caribbean island, as it appears related to the ‘Martinique Créole’ (the ancestor of Matina & Ceylon). Named Pajarito, meaning ‘little bird’, on account of its small fruit with small seeds. Has become widely planted in Colombia, replacing or mixing with pre-existing Criollo.
