Maracaibo

FLAVOR PROFILENaked to relatively Earthen; buttery nuts, soft wood, sweet spice; secondarily cream & red fruit

CHARACTERISTICS: soft, gentle, & subliminal; smooth consistency

Trade name of old that nostalgically endures, & rekindled by some, though much of what it built its fame on no longer exists. Generally Criollo & somewhat synonymous with Porcelana, particularly the variety of special quality confined to the valleys of the Catatumbo & Encontrados rivers which flow into Lake Maracaibo of Venezuela’s Sur del Lago region (creating confusion between it & Sur del Lago Classificado).
